The reference construction site of the Center for Construction Robotics (CCR) spans an area of approximately 4,000 square meters and is situated at the core of the 5G Industry Campus Europe, on the Melaten Campus of RWTH Aachen University. This reference construction site's story of success began in February 2020 at the West Campus. After over two years of fruitful research there, in September 2022, the site moved to the 5G Industry Campus Europe to integrate into the research infrastructure for 5G validation in production, as a component of the 5G.Namico project.
Research is being conducted on the construction site of the future, from the pre-production of building elements to the automated construction site. New construction processes, construction products, networked machines, the use of robots, software solutions as well as teaching, working, and communication concepts will be tested under real construction site conditions.
