ROBARCH 2024 in Toronto

We were delighted to be part of this year’s ROB/ARCH 2024 in Toronto, Canada – a Robotic Fabrication in Architecture, Art and Design event from May 21 to 25, 2024.

Incredible workshops for the first three days, followed by two days of paper and award presentations, panel discussions, keynotes and more. A week full of impressions, new insights and valuable opportunity for networking and exchange – Team CCR and IP of RWTH Aachen University accompanied by the students of master program Construction and Robotics spent an inspiring and interesting time at the ROB|ARCH 2024.

The paper “Loosely coupled observation processing and data exchange system for complex teams of on-site construction robots”, presented by one of our researchers Lukas Kirner, describes how 5G networking and edge computing, as well as the use of LinkedData concepts, can enable innovative system architectures that improve the capabilities of each individual machine on the construction site. The developments for this, as well as the research for this paper has been conducted in the course of the research projects EConoM and TARGET-X, which explore 5G technology in both a German and European research consortium.

This work is part of the research project EConoM that is funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport of Germany within the initiative InnoNT (funding number 19Ol22009F). It was supported within the framework TARGET-X, a project funded by the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) under Horizon Europe (funding number 101096614).

ROB|ARCH 2024 is a collaboration between the University of Toronto (UofT) and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU).
