The Chair of Individualized Production in Architecture (IP) was founded by Sigrid Brell-Cokcan in March 2015. Since 2003 she is a member of the Austrian Chamber of Architects, founding partner of II Architectsint Vienna/ Istanbul, founding partner and current president of the research Association for Robots in Architecture, a worldwide platform for making robots accessible to the creative industry such as architecture and industrial design.
The chair focusses on the use of innovative machinery in building production. In order to create an environment that allows the efficient, individualized production of lot size one, new and user friendly methods for man machine interaction are necessary. Combining the flexibility of robotics with intuitive methods for design oriented process planning and robot programming, the use of innovative fabrication processes by unpractised users becomes possible. The Chair of IP employs researchers from different fields of robotics and building production to streamline the necessary digital workflow from the initial design to the production process and construction site of the future via intuitive, easy-to-use interfaces.
